ACT Background and Training
Intro & Advanced workshops (both 2-Days) in 2007 with Dr Russ Harris in Australia. In July 2008, a 2-Day workshop with John Forsyth on Anxiety. Soon to do 3-day workshop (18-20/4/09) with Kelly Wilson in Brisbane. I also have had extensive input regarding ACT from Malcolm Huxter (friend, supervisor, and fellow psychlogist) who introduced me to ACT in 2002. I have read, continually digesting, and use as resources with my clients, recent books: ACT for the treatment of PTSD & other Trauma Related Problems; A Practical Guide to ACT; ACT for Anxiety Disorders; The Happiness Trap; Get out of Your Mind and Into Your Life; ACT for Depression; ACT for Chronic Pain, Relational Frame Theory; in addition to the ACT 'bible' by Hayes, Strosahl, & Wilson. Additionally I have an extensive background in working to apply in therapy the ideas of the American pragmatist Psychologists - William James and George Herbert Mead (eg. "Mind, Self & Society: From the Standpoint of a Social Behaviourist")

Additional Information
My aim is to create the space for each person I work with in order to co-create their own set of keys to the life they have always wanted, yet felt blocked somehow in moving more fully into. My use of ACT is pragmatically informed by: many years of work in the mental health field; a solid understanding of our human mind and its relationship to our emotions, our bodies, our actions, our relationship, and our hopes and dreams; the willingness and capacity to remain present with myself and others in relating to very intense experiences, in order to assist us move more fully into the types of living action that is meaningful, fulfilling, connected, rich, and vibrant.
