Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a unique and creative model for both therapy and coaching, based on the innovative use of mindfulness and values. The aim of ACT is to maximise human potential for a rich, full and meaningful life.
ACT helps you to cultivate health vitality and well-being through mindfulness and values-guided action. Although ACT was created over 10 years before 'positive psychology' existed, it is increasingly seen as a part of that movement.
Russ's highly-acclaimed ACT workshops have been held all over Australia, and internationally, and he is renowned for his ability to make complex ideas simple, clear and accessible.
His ACT-based self-help book, The Happiness Trap, is a best-seller in Australia, and has now been published in over twenty countries and fifteen languages. To download the opening chapters for free: click here. (You can easily get the book in Borders' bookstores - or from this website)
Russ has developed a unique model for training, which he light-heartedly refers to as 'ACT MADE SIMPLE'. (To download the first two chapters of the 'ACT MADE SIMPLE' textbook at no cost Click here . You can also purchase the book from this website.)
Russ proudly proclaims each workshop a 'jargon-free zone' - and bases his training on three core values: simplicity, clarity, and having fun. His training workshops are suitable for psychologists, psychiatrists, GPs, social workers, mental health nurses, occupational therapists, and counsellors. The introductory workshops are also suitable for coaches.
If you have already completed introductory and advanced ACT workshops, there are now ACT skills-building workshops. And if you work with couples, we now also have relationships workshops. Plus, we now have acclaimed psychologist Louise Hayes on board, running workshops on ACT for Adolescents & Youth.
Last but not least, Russ is now running ACT workshops for the general public: 2-day self-development workshops for health, confidence and vitality. These kick off in September 2010.
