ACT TRAINERS IN AUSTRALIA
The official organization worldwide for ACT and RFT is known as ACBS: Association for Contextual Behavioral Science. The ACBS website maintains a list of ACT trainers around the world that have met the following criteria: "Peers view this person as able to train ACT accurately, fully conveying the
model both didactically and experientially, when evaluated against
criteria defined by ACBS." ACBS has deliberately moved away from the training policies of most other therapy models - such as giving people special licenses or accreditations, or fancy titles. When you are included on the ACBS list, it means: a) you are part of a group within the ACT/RFT community who've committed to helping train others to the highest fidelity with the ACT model; b) you've agreed to work from a shared set of values, including peer-review as a way to shape/grow competency as a trainer.
Currently there are only 3 Australian ACT trainers on this list: Joseph Ciarrochi, Russ Harris, and Graham Taylor. However, there are several other Australian practitioners that I know of who are running ACT training. These include Michael Cohn, Bernard Parker, Judy Pickard, Robert Purssey, Julian McNally, Dung Nguyen, and Mary Sawyer. Below I have provided some links.
