Dr Russ Harris - Acceptance & Commitment Therapy Training

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a unique and creative model for both therapy and coaching, based on the innovative use of mindfulness.  The aim of ACT is to create a rich, full and meaningful life, cultivating vitality and well-being through mindfulness and values-guided action. Although ACT was created over 10 years before the positive psychology movement started, it is increasingly seen as a part of that movement - and arguably has more precision, scope and depth than any other model within the field.

Russ's highly-acclaimed ACT workshops have been held all over Australia, and internationally (he now even runs them in the USA!) and he is renowned for his ability to make complex ideas simple, clear and accessible. His ACT-based self-help book, The Happiness Trap, is already a best-seller in Australia, and in 2008 it will also be published in the USA, UK, Germany, Mexico, Latin America, Korea, China and India. To download the opening chapter for free: click here. (You can now easily get the book in all Borders' bookstores - or by mail order from this website)

Russ's workshops for therapists are suitable for psychologists, psychiatrists, GPs, social workers, mental health nurses, occupational therapists, and counsellors. He also runs workshops for coaches.

Russ has developed a unique model for training, which he light-heartedly refers to as 'ACT Made Simple'. He proudly proclaims each workshop a 'jargon-free zone' - and bases his training on three core values: simplicity, clarity, and accessibility. (There's also a big emphasis on having fun.)

On this site you can also find an ACT therapist, join an ACT interest group,  download  articles & papers, purchase CDs & Books, enrol in one of our low-cost  e-courses, or subscribe to our free newsletter (just below the main menu).
